The 24-year-old, who joined Chelsea last summer with £47.5million from RB Leipzig, started the campaign with big impression, scoring four goals in his first eight Premier League appearances but hasn’t found the net in his last 12 games across all competitions.
In fact, his last goal for the club was against Sheffield United in the 4-1 win before the November international break and he’s not had much luck finding the target as Frank Lampard’s side have slid down in the league standings.
However, things could be looking up for the Germany international ahead of Sunday’s third round of FA Cup tie against League 2 side Morecambe.
On Saturday, Werner along with the likes of Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Billy Gilmour, Hakim Ziyech, and Tammy Abraham were put through their paces at the club’s Cobham training base.
And one of the drills was shooting practice as spotted in a “Chelsea Unseen” training session video uploaded to YouTube, from around the 2.50 minute mark, the drill begins with Callum Hudson-Odoi finding the back of the net.
After successful attempts from Abraham and Mateo Kovacic, it’s time for German ace Timo Werner to step up at the 3.02-minute mark and his efforts was also find inside the net.
Whether Timo Werner starts against Morecambe remains to be seen as manager Frank Lampard has already revealed that five players from the Chelsea academy are in contention to play tomorrow.
