Roy Keane reveals the real reason Manchester United re-signed Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo's return to Manchester United, according to former captain Roy Keane, is "a short-term fix for the fans and the share price."

After Ronaldo scored his 18th Premier League goal in a 3-0 thrashing of Brentford on Monday night, Keane confirmed as much.

Keane, on the other hand, feels that allowing Ronaldo to depart Old Trafford makes "no sense."

"It [Ronaldo's signing] was a quick fix for the fans and the stock price." He has, however, scored the goals.

I simply believe that his goals and performances merit him remaining at the club. But Manchester United must assemble a team around him, including other strikers, and there must be pressure for positions.

If your leading striker, the player you rely on, is 37 years old, that's not good, but I'd keep Ronaldo," Keane said on Monday Night Football.
