Mason Greenwood says the advice Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gives to every young player is the best he has ever received in football.
The Manchester United manager has turned Greenwood into a breakthrough Premier League star, having handed him his debut aged just 17.
Greenwood has now revealed the advice Solskjaer gave to him prior to his debut against PSG in the Champions League is the best he has been given.
Speaking to World Soccer Magazine, the 19-year-old said he was told to just play with a smile on his face.
"It was Ole, the manager," Greenwood said.
"He says to all of the young players that are coming up: 'Just go out there with a smile on your face.
You are playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, just go out there and express yourself.
You've been waiting for this all of your life, so just go out there and enjoy it.'"
Greenwood praised Solskjaer's influence on his game and development as a footballer.
Pointing to his manager's own experience and record as a striker, Greenwood said the fact Solskjaer knows what he is talking about with young attackers is vital.
"Ole has been a big part of my game and development," he explained.
"He has helped me to get to where I am now and has given me the chances to prove to everyone what I can do.
"I'm glad he's there. He's a good manager and he knows what he's talking about because he's been a great goalscorer for Manchester United himself.
