Bruno Fernandes has been an absolute revelation for Manchester United, though the coronavirus may well mean he could be out of action for quite some time

It’s worth noting that Fernandes himself has had a negative COVID-19 test result reported, so right now, he is clear of the virus.

However, his international teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo, has tested positive for the virus. Here’s where the trouble arrives

According to Portuguese media outlet, A Bola, translated by The Sun, the key United star could miss the next four games due to coronavirus rulings here in the United Kingdom.

Upon his return to England, Fernandes may have to self-isolate for fourteen days after coming into contact with an infected person.

However, The Sun stress that Fernandes *could* be exempt as he’s a part of the ‘Elite Athlete Bubble’. So at this stage, it’s somewhat of a mystery.

So what games could Fernandes miss?

Well this weekend, United play Newcastle United during the first pay-per-view fixture on Sky Sports. Then, next midweek, the Red Devils head to Paris to take on PSG. Following that is a Premier League fixture against Chelsea and finally, a European fixture versus Red Bull Leipzig.

It’s a tricky situation. From a footballing standpoint, losing Fernandes would be absolutely devastating. However, imagine if he is a carrier of the virus and passes it on to several of his teammates and/or opponents? It’d wreak havoc on the footballing landscape as we know it.

At this stage, it’s still unclear as to whether he’ll be available for selection this weekend, though he did play for Portugal again last night.
