Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has given us Reds some good news on transfer deadline day, it seems. According to the Italian, Amad Traore is set to join Man United…
This is a move out of absolutely nowhere. Manchester United have spent all summer chasing Jadon Sancho – in a deal that is now obviously dead in the water.
However, letting this window pass by without signing a winger would be an absolute travesty. Credit to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for recognising this, identifying Traore as an alternative option.
Anyway, Di Marzio tweeted the news just moments ago, confirming that the talented 18-year-old winger is set to join United (presumably before tonight’s deadline)…

This scoop from Di Marzio backs up a claim we covered from the Manchester Evening News a few days ago. The Manchester-based outlet indeed confirmed that the Reds were ‘working on a deal’ to sign the winger. Now, that looks to be true…
United are desperate for squad depth. I’ve never seen Traore play though I’ve only heard good things. If he improves our bench options, then I’m all for this deal going through.
With him being young and moving to a completely new country, we’d have to give him time to settle in and get familiar with his new surroundings. Patience is key with this one, but I’d rather see this signing happen than watch United adding nobody at all.
The sad thing is, United have spent all summer chasing shadows in regards to Sancho, then leaving it to the very last day to undertake a mad scramble to sign three players. Would Alex Telles, Edinson Cavani and Amad Traore be enough? Who knows. One thing that is a fact, though, is United look desperate.
They’ve made three panic signings, probably as a way to appease the fans. For the biggest club in the world, that’s just not good enough.
